Durango, Mexico - December 2008

Ok, so this is a little late but better than never right? :)

I could not for the life of me get these pictures to load correctly so you'll sort of get the story backwards. Top pic is of Charro's mama the day we were leaving. As you can tell by the boys faces, they were both pretty sick.

The boys giving kisses while playing in the town square.

Church shots: This church is about 500 years old and is beautiful. It is falling down which i think makes it even more magnificant. It's in the middle of a corn field and for years I've wanted to shoot it. Finally one evening Charro took me out and got me through the barb wire fence and let me go for about 30 minutes. Had a blast!

Bottom is a way of life for most people. They don't have heaters or ovens, so they get firewood and bring it back to the house.

The picture to the left is just a fun one but it was sort of eye opening to think that something we would think as decorative or collective is an everyday piece of equipment that the locals use down there.

Probably 80% of houses there are adobe, the rest being cement.

Starting from the picture below: This is the old patio cover that his family did the laundry under. It was pieced together with scrap wood, pieces of metal and burlap sacks. Was literally being held up by bailing wire. Charro and I usually do a project a year on the house. Last year we put a new bathroom in, the year before we put running water in the kitchen (his mom was still doing dishes in a tub in the backyard...she's 88!)

The picture to the left shows the patio after we were finished. We had alot of fun doing it together and his family loved it. Before they were unable to do the laundry in the rain, now they can do it rain or shine!

Picture below: Charro's house. Most of it he has built himself!

Charro's nieces: Dahlia who is 5 days older than Alex and Dulce, 11.

Above: Showing Andy the birds with his Tia Maria and Grandma.
